iPads are allowing children with special needs to communicate, express themselves, aid learning and engage with the world.
Opportunities exist for families to apply to Variety for an iPad for their family member to assist in their development and learning needs. The 1st Round of applications opened last week and will close 31st Jan 2014. 2nd Round will commence 3rd March 2014 through to 16th May 2014.
The iPads come from Variety with applications developed specifically for children with special needs. They are usually picture based and allow a child that is non-verbal to communicate and learn to speak with pictures on a touch screen repeating words that they can build sentences out of. They are also very beneficial to children with a severe learning disabilities and delayed motor skills as it can help them learn to read and keep up in class.
